Our story
Locally owned and operated by Alan and Phil Richards since 2012, with decades of hands-on experience behind the counter and in the workshop.
Alan and Phil Richards have owned and operated STIHL SHOP Rotorua since 2012 — the business many locals still remember as Key Equipment Services.
Phil's STIHL story started with an apprenticeship on STIHL chainsaws, building saws for the forestry industry. That's where his passion for the product began, and it has never left — he's still a big fan of the MS 660, and the moment someone wants to talk ride-on mowers, especially Walkers, you'll see it.
For us it's not all about selling equipment. We're here to help you find the right machine, whether you're a homeowner, contractor or farmer — and then look after it, with servicing and repairs on all makes and models. For many customers their equipment is something they rely on every day, and being able to walk into a local shop and talk to someone who understands it makes a real difference.
The team is what makes STIHL SHOP Rotorua a great place to be — along with our customers. We were proud to be named STIHL NZ Most Improved Dealer in 2024, and outside the shop you'll find the team lending a hand in the community, through the Lions Club and charity work at Christmas time.
You'll find us opposite Pak'n'Save on Amohau Street. Come in and say hello.
